From
2002 to 2007, New Writing North, in partnership with The Northern Rock
Foundation, ran the Northern Rock Foundation Writer’s Award, an
unparalleled award for North East writers, worth £60,000.
The award was created with the recognition that many published
writers have to undertake a variety of other work to support their
creative writing. This award offered the chance for writers to be
liberated from other work commitments that may have limited their
writing time.
